Baseball Championships
MORE than 500 people are expected to descend on Sale for the under 14 state winter baseball championships to be held at Stephenson Park this Saturday and Sunday.
More than 200 players will travel to Sale from across Victoria, including teams from Bendigo, Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Geelong, north-eastern Victoria, Sunraysia as well as local participants from the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association.
The championships will include 24 games and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy these school holidays including a concert by the Sale City Band.
LVBA will host a dinner for all participants on Saturday with under 14 state coach Chris Hodkinson to address the players on development paths in baseball.
Baseball Victoria chief executive Brett Hidson said he was enthusiastic about holding the championships in Sale.
"Representative teams are coming from across the state to Sale for a festival of baseball," he said.
"The under 14 state winter championships provides our country affiliates with a chance to pit their skills against each other in fun, fair and competitive games of baseball and a chance to meet legends of the game and learn more about the sport."
Sale City Band Plays the Proms at the Wedge
Sale City Band will present the Last Night of the Proms on Sunday 14 October from 2pm at the Wellington Entertainment Centre.
Sale City Band has been delighting Sale and district with its music since 1871.
This historic band is tremendously active within the community, providing music for local events such as Australia Day, Sale Eisteddfod and the Christmas carols.
Its bright red uniforms and glowing brass instruments have rendered it an icon in Sale.

Gary Jago (sic) of the Sale City Band came out of retirement to perform the Last Post at the Sale Remembrance day ceremony.
Christmas Comes to Sale
