Band Turns 140

SALE City Band will turn 140 next week and is inviting the whole community to join the celebrations.

The band has been an integral part of Sale's community spirit since its inception in 1871 as the Sale Borough Band, performing at dances, shows and fetes and community services such as Anzac Day since.

The band will have a free community performance next Saturday, October 8, from llam at the clocktower in the Sale pedestrian mall. A selection of songs will be played from across the decades.

After the show there will be a band reunion at the band hall in Foster St, Sale, from 2pm.

All past members of the band are invited to attend, and are invited to take along their instruments.

On Sunday, October 9, there will also be another performance at Wellington Entertainment Centre from 2pm: Hailed as "a concert to remember" the band will play some of its favourite pieces from over the years, with admission prices from $10.
